美國北卡羅來納州1961年險引爆氫彈

一名記者說，一枚威力強大的氫彈一九六一年差一點就在美國北卡羅來納州引爆，炸死好幾百萬人。一九六一年，一架B-52轟炸機載運了兩枚氫彈，在北卡上空解體，一枚氫彈掉在田裡，另一枚掉在牧草地上。美國政府一直不承認當時氫彈可能會引爆。

調查記者「史羅瑟」撰寫一本討論核武競賽的新書，依法取得當年的資料。結果發現，當時有一枚氫彈的降落傘已經張開，引爆裝置進入定位，最後是靠一個低電壓開關避免了氫彈爆炸。

這兩枚氫彈的威力都是投在廣島原子彈的兩百六十倍。一旦爆炸，輻射塵會散播到華盛頓、巴爾的摩、費城甚至紐約市，後果難以想像。

負責氫彈安全裝置的工程師檢討後認為，氫彈十分靠不住。
