屏東縣出現今年第一例日本腦炎病例，衛生局指出，一名住在新園鄉的17歲男學生，5月31日開始出現發燒、頭痛、惡心等症狀，6月1日就醫，經疾病管制局檢驗確診為日本腦炎，病患已於8日康復出院，同住的3人均無疑似症狀。

衛生局指出，這名病例的住家附近有多處豬舍及水稻田，為防止疫情擴散，衛生單位除加強宣導外，已在附近掛燈誘捕病媒蚊，同時提醒民眾加強防範。

這名男學生曾於92年完成四劑疫苗接種，但還是被感染日本腦炎。

衛生局指出，日本腦炎疫苗大約只有10年的效力，如果剛好居住在高危險區，是有可能再感染，民眾還是特別加強個人的防蚊措施，以避免被感染。
