女議員演講13小時阻法案　轟動全美

主播：「已經近7個小時了，你正在收看現場實況轉播，當地州議員溫蒂。」

連當地電視台都現場連線直播，因為德州民主黨女議員溫蒂，正在發表一個時間超長的演講。德州議員溫蒂：「我認為如果你支持這項法案，表示你單純忽略了醫療科技，靜觀婦女及小孩無辜受難死亡。」

溫蒂有備而來，捨棄正式的高跟鞋，穿上心愛的粉紅色運動鞋，進行長期演說抗戰。主播：「根據州議會規則，這代表不能上廁所休息、不能坐下或倚靠休息、不能吃東西或喝水，民主黨州議員計畫，要連講13個小時。」

連續開講13個小時，溫蒂過程累到不停伸懶腰，更糟的是，身體還出狀況。溫蒂：「生理跟心理上的奮戰，兩小時候後，我就知道將會是漫長的一天，我的腰一開始時就作痛，之後變得很痛。」

溫蒂反對共和黨提出懷孕20週禁止墮胎法案，使出終極超長演講，拖延議事規則手段，許多民眾特地趕到議會殿堂旁聽，表達支持，平常有運動習慣的溫蒂，最後靠著體力、耐力跟意志力，完成超長演說，成功封殺這項法案，個人網頁粉絲也從原先千人左右，暴增到10萬人，瞬間爆紅，成為全美家喻戶曉的名人。
